Poly Web Site Comes Back to Life, Better than Ever
The online version of the Rensselaer Polytechnic (aka The Poly, the student newspaper) has been relaunched. The authors of the newly redesigned site say that it "provides more information, contains more pictures, and is easier to navigate". We agree.
We are adding a link to the Poly Web Site to the collection of Quick Links that appears on the right hand side of the RCNJ home page.
The design credit on the Poly Web Site goes to Jason Golieb, a senior from Parsippany, NJ. He is in the EMAC program for his BS degree and also in the 5 year accelerated MBA program at the Lally School of Management and Technology.
The old version of the Poly Web Site had been offline for several months. The message on the Web Page that was left in place of the Web Site during the outage was not specific about the root cause. We presumed that the server had been hacked. However, Jason Golieb set the record straight:
"Our site was not vandalized over the summer. As you probably
know, the Union was getting renovated last year and the process is just finishing
up now. Over the summer, our servers were being moved back into our new/old
offices from West Hall, where we'd been set up during the renovation. Just as the
web server was coming back on line in the Union, it crashed and burned, and we had
to get a new server set up. As soon as the new server was up and running, the new
site debuted."
